Cristi Nelson Endorsed by California Association of Highway Patrolmen
Roseville, CA – Public safety advocate and small business owner Cristi Nelson has received the endorsement of the California Association of Highway Patrolmen (CAHP) in her bid for the State Assembly.
CAHP has served as the voice for the officers of the California Highway Patrol since 1920 and advocates for the rights and protections of over 14,500 members. It is regarded as one of the leading public safety organizations in the state.
“Cristi Nelson’s lifelong dedication to the safety and wellbeing of our law enforcement officers sets her apart from other candidates,” stated CAHP President Doug Villars. “We trust that as an Assemblywoman, Cristi will be a strong voice for public safety and a voice for the men and women who put their lives on the line to protect our streets.”
The daughter of a Special Agent Supervisor with the California Department of Justice, Cristi Nelson developed a deep respect for the public safety community at a young age. She currently serves as a member of the Placer County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Mounted Team and dedicates much of her free time to promoting safety within our communities.
“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the CAHP,” replied Cristi Nelson. “Reckless realignment policies, Prop 47, and Jerry Brown’s sentencing reform threatens the safety of our communities and the risk posed by early prison releases falls on the backs of our law enforcement officers. I’m running for Assembly because we need leaders who will stand up and fight back against irresponsible policies that threaten our safety.”
Cristi graduated from Sacramento State with a degree in Criminal Justice, and earned her Juris Doctor while working full time. She spent much of her career working to protect businesses and families from predatory lawsuits. Cristi and her husband own a Roseville-based tech company that employs over 300 people.
Cristi Nelson is running for the 6th Assembly District, which includes communities in El Dorado, Placer and Sacramento counties. She has been married to her husband, Rick, for 23 years and they have a daughter, Nicole, and a son, Jake.
