Placer County Sheriff Edward Bonner Endorses Cristi Nelson for Assembly
Roseville, CA – Small business owner and public safety advocate, Cristi Nelson has announced that she has received the endorsement of Placer County Sheriff Edward N. Bonner in her bid for the California State Assembly.
Sheriff Bonner grew up in Placer County and has served the community as a law enforcement officer for over 40 years. Bonner was first elected Sheriff in 1994 and has also served as the President of California’s State Sheriffs’ Association, the President of the Child Abuse Prevention Council, and is a member of the FBI National Academy Association.
“I looked at the field of candidates closely and it is clear that for public safety professionals and for the people of Placer County, Cristi Nelson is the best choice for the State Assembly,” stated Sheriff Bonner.
Bonner’s endorsement adds to Nelson’s growing swell of support from the local law enforcement community. Nelson, who currently serves as a volunteer for the Placer County Search and Rescue Mounted Team, has also earned support from the Placer County Deputy Sheriff’s Association, CAL Fire Local 2881, the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC), the Folsom Police Officers’ Association and a wide range of both active and retired public safety leaders.
“I grew up in a law enforcement family and have the utmost respect for the sacrifices officers make in order to keep our communities safe. Since I first launched my campaign last summer, I have been so humbled by the strong support I’ve received from the public safety community,” said Nelson. “I’m running for the Assembly because our region deserves a representative who values the safety of our communities and understands what’s at stake. As an Assemblywoman, I will make it my number one priority to equip our state’s hardworking public safety officers with the tools they need to keep criminals off our streets and keep our neighborhoods safe.”
The daughter of a Special Agent with the California Department of Justice, Cristi Nelson is a native to the Sacramento area. After graduating from Sacramento State with a degree in Criminal Justice, Nelson pursued her law degree at night while working full time. For over a decade, Nelson worked to expedite insurance claims for hardworking families and small businesses. Nelson and her husband own a technology firm in Roseville, which has over 300 employees.
Nelson has been widely recognized as a problem solver who is not afraid to tackle the tough issues. As a State Assemblywoman, Cristi plans on prioritizing public safety and working to streamline regulations that cripple California’s economy and prevent businesses from expanding. She is a fierce proponent of fiscal responsibility, and is committed to standing up for taxpayers by fighting tax increases and ensuring that the state is prudent in it budgeting.
Cristi Nelson is a Republican candidate for the 6th Assembly District, which includes communities in El Dorado, Placer, and Sacramento counties. She has been married to her husband, Rick, for 23 years, and they have two children.
