PORAC Endorses Cristi Nelson for State Assembly
Roseville, CA – Today small businesswoman and Republican candidate for Assembly Cristi Nelson announced that she has received the endorsement of the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC). PORAC was incorporated in 1953 and is recognized as the state’s largest public safety organization, with over 66,000 members.
“Cristi Nelson is far and away the best candidate when it comes to public safety,” stated Michael Durant, President of PORAC. “She comes from a law enforcement family, has firsthand experience working with peace officers and has seen the sacrifices they make to keep our communities safe. Because of this, Cristi Nelson would make an excellent Assemblywoman.”
The daughter of a Special Agent Supervisor and long-time member of the Placer County Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue Mounted Team, Nelson has a lifelong appreciation of the sacrifices law enforcement officers make to keep our communities safe. As an Assemblywoman, Nelson has pledged to make public safety her number one priority.
“It’s truly a great honor to have PORAC’s support,” Nelson responded. “The officers that make up PORAC are on the front-line, working to ensure that California is safer for everyone, which is why they deserve a voice in the Assembly who will work to ensure they have the resources they need to keep us safe.”
A self-made businesswoman, Nelson worked full-time while pursuing her law degree. She and her husband now own a local technology company that employs over 300 people.
“Each and everyday, Californians face a growing threat to the safety of their homes and their neighborhoods. Take for instance when the Legislature disregarded the safety of our families and passed realignment, resulting in crowded county jails and the early release of hardened criminals onto our streets,” continued Nelson. “I’m running for Assembly to put a stop to this nonsense.”
Cristi Nelson is running for the 6th Assembly District, which includes residents of El Dorado, Placer, and Sacramento counties. She has been married to her husband, Rick, for 23 years, and they have two children.
